Mission
Acap’s mission is to generate returns for its investors by providing innovative financing solutions to entrepreneurs in post-conflict and other frontier markets.
We do not believe in ‘double-bottom line’ investing where commercial objectives are balanced with charitable ones. However, by choosing to operate in difficult markets where entrepreneurs lack access to capital and by choosing to operate within the constraints of our business principles, we seek to contribute to economic renewal, reconstruction and development.
We believe Private Equity in our markets is by definition development. Mohamed Ibrahim, founder of Celtel, the most successful telecoms business in Africa, expressed our guiding principle aptly: “You have to align your head, with your heart, and with your wallet.”
In addition, we contribute the communities we work in through the Acap Development Trust. The trust is committed to supporting innovative private sector solutions to international development.
